In our exploration of Chinese culture, we were struck by the significance of bats as a symbol of blessings and good fortune. Despite their less than adorable appearance, their chinese pronunciation "Fu" sounds similar to the word for "blessing". For centuries, they are considered a good omen for such reason.

To enhance their symbolism of blessings, they are often paired with other symbols of prosperity, such as peaches, bamboo, chrysanthemum, roses, pomegranate, dragons, and carps, among others. These combinations create a visual representation of a "blessing of longevity".
